Solstice Mala Making Workshop w/ Suzi Maldonado

  • The Greenhouse 2325 Palos Verdes Drive West Palos Verdes Estates, CA, 90274 United States (map)

CONNECT + COMMUNITY + CREATE

Malas are not just trendy pieces of jewelry; they are used as a tool to help the mind focus during meditation, and the simple repetitive act of making your own mala becomes a meditative art experience as well.

Please join us for this meaningful & mindful experience to create a personal mālā with your intentions and energy infused into each bead and knot. We will begin with learning a bit about the history & significance of meditation malas, then hand knot our 108 beads together.

For this workshop, you will have your choice of Aqua Terra Jasper or Tibetan Dzi Beads (must select option at registration - first come, first serve), and can choose to finish your mala with a string tassel or wood pendant. (see photos below)

You will leave with a personally charged, tangible reminder of your prayers and intentions to carry with you. A mala necklace makes a wonderful, personal gift for someone special, too. Everyone is welcome. Yogis & non-yogi’s alike. We keep the energy light and the learning simple so that everyone feels welcome.

Space is limited ~ pre-registration is required to save your spot.

$108 for workshop. Price includes materials, group & individual instruction.

About Suzi & Baja Malas

As a yogi for over 20 years, Suzi attended many different types of workshops including a mala making workshop some years ago. She attended the workshop knowing she would give the mala necklace to her teenage daughter as a gift, but something magical & unexpected happened while hand-knotting each bead together.

As she contemplated how she could give this special piece of jewelry greater significance, she decided to infuse 108 different prayers, wishes, intentions, dreams & desires she had for her daughter and her life, into each bead & knot. As a mother, this became a powerful meditative experience for her…to think of 108 different prayers for the kind of life she hoped she would lead, the woman she would grow to become, and the experiences life would bestow upon her.

When she gave the mala to her daughter, she explained on a little notecard what she had done. Her daughter still wears the mala to this day. It’s traveled the world with her and when she’s not wearing it, it hangs in her bedroom.

Suzy’s intention with Baja Malas is to provide her guests with a meaningful experience and to create jewelry that inspires.
